There is approx. 30,000 SF of SIPS on the roof of the Von Speigel Street
Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. The project is presently under
construction (10/27/03) and should be wrapping up the roof in the next 7-10
days.
This is a steel structure.
As the photo below indicates, 2x blocking was
fastened to the steel. The SIP panels are being screwed into the blocking
using 8" & 9" Panel Screws by Olympic (12" o/c). The panels
are being cut
on site with a Prazi blade which attaches to a circular or worm drive saw.
The panels are being lifted by strapping that has been attached using lift
plates screwed into the top OSB skin (provided by FischerSIPS). All panels
are connected on each side with a single 2x6 spline that has been caulked &
nailed in place.
